CEE has been pioneer in establishing the latest technology in controls for Regenerative system for WAG7, Diesel and Electric LOCOs, EMU(Electric Multiple unit), DEMU(Diesel Electric Multiple unit), Oil Rigs, Micro controller/DSP based Traction drives using power devices GTO/IGBT/IPM, transformer monitoring and control systems & Hydro and thermal power plant equipment.

Traction Controls business has been one of the primary area of expertise, with most of the conventional Diesel locomotives of Inidan Railways running on BHEL Technology. We have a very strong presence in electrics of conventional AC_EMUs, DEMUs, Diesel Electric Locomotives, & other conventional technologies. With the advent of electrification drive from Govt. of India, the Deisel Electric Tower Car requirement from Indian Railways has increased manifold in recent years and BHEL has supplied over 200 sets in past 3 years to support the cause. We are the first manufacturers to introduce Metro System in India back in 1983 at Kolkata and upgraded it again in 2000s to keep up with the latest technology. With a dedicated Research & Product development team, we are constantly evolving and unpgrading the technology to keep up with the current technical treands.

WAG-7 Upgradation – Regenerative System

  • Regenerative braking from Speed 100KPH to 15 KPH and then Air brake.
  • Regenerative Braking is achieved through IGBT based Front End converter for feeding power at unity PF, Boost Chopper and Buck chopper
  • IGBT based 2.5MW water cooled Converter Panel with Heat Exchanger System
